Devon is located in South West England and has many attractions. Emirates Spinnaker Tower is located beside Portsmouth royal navy base. Plymouth is another well known naval base. The seaside resort town of Torquay is located on the English Channel. Its known for beaches like Babbacombe and Oddicombe. Its coastline is the often called the English Riviera. Torquay Harbour near the town centre, has shops, cafes and a marina. Babbacombe Model Village is a miniature village and railway. Tom Dobbins opened the model village in 1963. Dartmoor National Park dramatic granite outcrops dominate the skyline. The remains of giant mountains, eroded over millions of years have left granite tors.
Dartmoor contains some important Bronze Age landscapes in Western Europe. Thousands of hut circles, the remains of human habitation and stone rows. Also many standing stones, religious complexes and burial sites. The longest stone row in the world can be found on Dartmoor. Habitats of national and international importance are located in the National Park. This also supports a huge diversity of species.
